Traditional West African Dance Class

This African dance class will educate you on technique, culture, and the fundamentals of traditional African dance and the history of the piece with emphasis on an understanding of the drum rhythms.

INSTRUCTOR BIO: Maria has twenty-six years of experience in West African Dancing. She started African dancing when she was seven years old with Iman Edu-Tainers and hasn’t looked back since. She has a passion for teaching and passing on her gifts and talents.

Maria is a powerful dancer who displays her heart and soul for African culture and dance. She has choreographed numerous dances, taught children and adult classes, and offered workshops throughout the years. She enjoys learning different styles and techniques from Master dancers and trains in all forms of African dance, but enjoys the fast and complex dances. When she dances you can’t take your eyes off of her. She lights up the room with her energy, passion and gives it her all every time. She will educate you on technique, culture, and history of a dance piece.

CLASS FEE: $20 per person

NOTE: Attire that is breathable and comfortable to dance in. Bare feet recommended.
